According to various medical studies, there is a close relationship between the state of mind of the patient and the success of therapy to beat cancer. This is confirmed by Arvid Bergvall, who after having received two treatments, in the new Oncological Day Hospital in the ‘Hospital Internacional HC Marbella’, recommends “any cancer sufferer in need of treatment to benefit from being treated at the new centre”.
Doctor Hernán Cortés-Funes, Director of the Oncological Unit of the medical center, explains that Bergvall, whowas diagnosed with an extended prostate cancer with metastasis in different parts of his body, “started a weekly treatment of chemotherapy to control his pain and to better his quality of life”. “In only three months the patient could walk again and can presently travel and lead a normal life” says Dr. Cortés-Funes emphasizing that “receiving the cancer treatment in a good atmosphere makes it easier”.
Bergvall considers that “it is a great privilege, to have intravenous cancer treatment in such a comfortable (single occupancy) room, with such a marvellous view to the garden, from the extremely comfortable chair in which I was sitting”, and goes on: “Any anxiety or discomfort is greatly reduced, or just disappears altogether, in a setting such as this”.
The quality of the attention that the hospital offers to its patients is also highlighted by all those who frequent the hospital. “The medical staff administering the treatments are considerate, professional and kind, in their approach and the way in which they work”, according to Bergvall.
